Performance Test Benchmark
Description
This performance test benchmark app was designed so that you could compare your Mac with other macOS-based devices and evaluate the performance and efficiency of different hardware configurations in a detailed and meaningful way.
Since we are talking about the performance of 64-bit systems, as a baseline reference unit we chose the very first 64-bit computer made by Apple — the legendary Power Mac G5, which was first introduced by Steve Jobs in June 2003 at the Worldwide Developers Conference.
The Power Mac G5, built on PowerPC processors, turned out to be so powerful and energy-efficient that in the fall of 2003 a group of enthusiastic students built the System X supercomputer, which combined 1100 of these systems into a single cluster. This supercomputer became a true sensation in the computing world and entered the TOP-3 of the global supercomputer ranking.
Such a remarkable result would be impossible to achieve in our time: if you were to assemble a similar configuration from 1100 top-tier 64-bit systems available today, the resulting supercomputer would not even make it into the TOP-100 of the worldwide ranking list.
With the help of our performance test benchmark mac application, we invite you to find out how many legendary Power Mac G5 units are hidden inside your Mac computer. In addition, after you performance test benchmark download and install it, you will be able to compare your Mac against the Mac Pro running on an Intel processor, as well as against the newer Mac devices powered by Apple's own M1 chip.
